Angelique Kidjo has done more than any woman to bring African music to a wider audience. From Soul to Funk, she sings virtually entirely in the Fon language. Her signing to Island Records in 1989 gave her a world stage and the resources to have the highest production values. Her latest recordings have seen her move into R&B along with a cover version of Jimi Hendrix's "Voodoo Child", whilst still maintaining the texture through the use of her South African backing singers.
She has just released a "best of" album Keep on Moving. |
