Ayaovi Mensah was born in Togo where his father taught him the beauty of song. At the early age of 10 he joined the national ballet. He later became a member of the Villa Yi M'Bock in Abidjan (directed by Were Were King) and performed in the ballet. "A Touareg and a Pygmee got married", touring Europe and Japan. Mensah has appeared as a guest on albums by well known performers such as Meiway, ABS, ASA and many more. As a story teller, his style brings to mind Les FrFres Boni and Saramaka in Guyana and Brazilian Nago Yoruba Brothers. |
