Travadinha (Antonio Vincente Lopes) was perhaps the most diverse and dextrous musician of the Cape Verde islands. Playing beautifully on the violin, viola, cavaquinho, and guitar. Travadinha performed traditional mornas: plaintive songs of lost love, separated friends, and distant homelands, as much admired for their poetic grace as for their musical virtuosity
